LAVISH LAWN - GARDEN GURU SUE BOTH

PREPARING YOUR LAWN FOR SUMMER

Tips For Lavish Lawns | Gardenshop

The winter is when you spend the least amount of time thinking of your lawn. Unless you live in an area that is relatively warm all year long, chances are you have put the lawn mower away and are enjoyed a few months of relaxation before you have to start the lawn maintenance routine again. But alas the relaxation does not last forever and is time to get your lawn prepared for the summer.

Dust off that lawnmower and let’s get started:

  • Cut the Grass very short with a Lawnmower
  • Use a Garden Fork or a Spike Roller to make little holes in the grass. This is called scarifying
  • Spread the bags of lawn-dressing in heaps over the lawn.
  • Use 1 bag (30dm³) on about 5m² of lawn surface.
  • Using a Leaf Rake, spread the Lawn-dressing evenly over the lawn area. It should only be a thin layer and should not cover the lawn blades entirely.
  • Water well and wait for new lawn to appear.
  • Wait 3 weeks and then apply a high Nitrogen fertilizer like Wonder 7:1:3 or Bioganic Lawns. Make sure that you water the lawn well after sprinkling the fertilizer.

Follow the steps above to ensure a green carpet of lawn for summer. Remember a beautiful lawn does not happen by itself.
