Onion Chives
Allium schoenoprasum
Allium schoenoprasum or Onion Chives. A small bulbous perennial which is commonly used as a culinary herb to impart mild onion flavour to many foods, including salads, soups, vegetables and sauces. Plants also have good ornamental value. Pom-pom shaped pink flowers appear on thin stalks in mid-summer. Plants disappear during winter but will shoot again once temperatures get higher.
