Description

  • Angelonia  is available in a variety off colours. They are also known as the summer snapdragons.
  • Angelonia is known as a “thriller” because of its upright nature and tendency to “wow” in any garden or pot combo.
Its sweet colours and rich fragrance are complimentary to many flowers and supportive of many floral combinations.
This hardy plant has a spread of 10-12 inches, requiring about 10-12 inches to properly grow, and should be kept at a height of 12-14 inches.
  • Angelonia features linear leaves with multiple large flowers that provide a burst of colour all summer long.
Its ability to thrive in full heat and full sun make it a very good support choice for any container combination, landscape design, or window box.
  • Angelonia purple is a low maintenance plant and is drought resistant.
Fertilizer or compost application will ensure optimal plant performance. Be sure to apply low to the ground, near the plant’s main stem, avoiding wetting the plant’s foliage, for quick absorption and utilization.
  • If you are planning to keep your Angelonia in a window box or container, regular fertilizer application is recommended for optimal plant health. It is important to ensure good drainage in both containers and landscaping, to prevent diseases like root rot. Feed with multifeed flowergro or Wonder 3.1.5 or Atlantic flower and fruit.
  • Drainage holes, elevated flower gardens, and proper soil composition are three great ways to prevent root rot and help your plants maintain a healthy moisture level.
  • Another great feature of Angelonia purple is that it does not require deadheading. These large blossomed beauties will continuously bloom all season, no grooming required. If your plants start to look messy feel free to trim them back to keep them tight and well shaped. After pinching back, your plant should begin to bloom again within 1-2 weeks.
  • While pests are not a huge threat for this line of plants, they may occasionally get whiteflies or aphids. Pests often operate on the underside of the leaves, and can be tough to spot without a magnifying glass. Whiteflies look like tiny white moths but operate much like aphids.
  • Damage to plants will include yellowing, shrivelling, and premature dropping of leaves. If you spot an insect or two buzzing around your flowers, do not panic, these pests only pose a threat when they congregate in large numbers. If you suspect a pest problem, treat with Malasol or Protek Kemprin.
